Hanshi Tony Bisanz is a senior instructor in Shuri-Ryu Karate-Do holding the rank of 9th degree black belt. Sensei Bisanz began his martial arts training in 1974 in Dubuque, Iowa under Master David Schmitt in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do. While in Iowa, Mr. Bisanz trained with Sensei Guy Holtzman who was under the former Shuri-Ryu Chief Instructor John Hutchcroft. After college, Sensei Bisanz moved to Phoenix, Arizona to study under Grandmaster Trias. Sensei Bisanz was both a student and an instructor at the Trias International Institute of Karate and Judo. In 1989, Master Bisanz was appointed to the position of Assistant Chief Instructor by Grandmaster Trias. Later, under the International Shuri-Ryu Association, Master Bisanz was raised to a full Red Sun Chief Instructor.
Master Bisanz has placed numerous times in competitions including a silver medal in weapons competition at the Okinawan Rengokai World Championships in 2001 and was inducted into the Robert Bowles International Budo Society in 2010. Master Bisanz currently teaches at his school Kondo No Sho Ryu in Mesa, Arizona. Master Bisanz holds an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master's degree in education.
